About time for a post…

Wow, it’s been awhile. I think it’s pretty much due to the fact, that I have run out of things to talk about. It’s funny, how you can talk up a storm, but sit in front a of computer and my mind goes blank.
We’re back to the cold weather. I never had a doubt it would return. For 2 weeks we were having the most spectacular, spring/summer weather, now, it’s winter again. Without the snow though, hoping that doesn’t come back.

Time for spring cleaning Day 1

Today while having my morning coffee (or 3), and blog hopping, I came upon a blog(sorry forgot which one), about spring cleaning.
(edited)
to add the link to my motivation. Thanks Brooke
Cupcakes and Cucumbers

It got me motivated to start mine.
The first problem is always, "where to start?"
I live in a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, apartment, with 2 kids, 2 animals(dog and a cat). I have 2 storage closets (big ones), and a huge coat closet. I also have a "solarium", I call it a porch!
I thought back to the read post, and remembered, the 1 main thing.
"Do 1 room at a time".
Well since this week has been unseasonable warm(hopefully it stays this way), I decided to start with the "porch".
My son has a habit of dropping all his crap out there. Reason being, with the bed bug epidemic going on, I am scared he is going to bring something home with him, from a friends house! >>>insert eyes popped out, grossed out smiley here.
I can deal with the dog having the occasional potty accident, and cleaning the cat box, but not that, thank-you.
I actually was enjoying myself while cleaning. (I have no life, I know).
What a feeling of accomplished joy I had, when I finished.
I think tomorrow I will do the coat closet. I will not be putting any mittens or hats away though. I know if I do, we'll get a big snowstorm.

 Essentials to get started
There is no need to put off spring cleaning because you don't have a cleaner for each job (or you need to wait til you get paid to purchase).
The following is a list that most people will have on hand.

  • old cloths ( I always save any old dish cloths/facecloths, that have faded or gotten stained.
  • Vinegar (You can clean anything with it, and it's cheap. Plus great for windows too)
  • Baking soda (Also cheap, and good for scouring)
  • garbage bags (If you can't decide in under 10 seconds, if you'll use something, toss it)
Happy Cleaning!

What a weekend...

Well March break is here. Not only does that mean kids home from school for a week, but spring is coming.
Last week it was so cold. Way below 0 most days. Saturday was terrible cold as well.
But yesterday(Sunday) was very warm. Well +15(warm for us for a March day).
It was just one of those days you just want to stay outside, as much as you can.
We did our usual walk with the dog. It was great to see all that snow melting.

It was a cold, cold day....

Those living in a year-round warm climate, one might wonder how we who don't, can go through, day to day, during the winter season. The cold, the lack of sunshine, days spent outside with the constant need of trying to stay warm, and planning your days around the daylight hours.
It's hard, I tell you. The older I get, the harder it gets.  I count down, now, to the coming spring season.
Today was very cold. -17 through the day.
So I got the dog on his leash and headed out to the woods. We usually do this a few times a week, in the winter.

The sun was out, nice and bright at least. It would have been way colder if it wasn't.
Our weather has been back and forth alot this winter. One day might be seasonable warm, the next 20 degrees colder.

Bailey likes it though. lol
